Beaches - there are several in and around St. Andrews.
- The largest is the West sands which runs alongside the Old Course. Kite surfing and dune surfing can all be done along at the far end and dogs can be walked at certain points on this beach. Can be tidal along towards the Eden estuary so take advice before getting your swimsuit on! Fine for paddling about near St.Andrews end and look out for the lifeguards' signs giving advice on conditions.
- The Castle Sands are tucked down below St Andrews castle and are sheltered with and old sea swimming pool. Lots of rock pools.
- The East Sands are safe for swimming and St Andrews sailing club runs from there. This is also a good place to join the coastal walk and continue round the East Neuk.
